“There’s a tendency to speak in a negative way about negativity, but I don’t know that we always should. It’s part of the tapestry of life. You take that, and you sew it into your own seams and you come out with something beautiful” – Yrsa Daley-Ward

This collection steps into the Yoruba energy of Exu, crossroads, and facing the numerous aspects of our life experiences, woven tapestries that oftentimes leave us threadbare if we don’t face the seams. The collection will feature a dialect of white garments recut in our signature cuts with patchworked and recycled versions, building from our own aesthetic language in reciclagem, the designer’s Afro-Brazilian heritage and calling forth intimate experiences with orisha energy and past. This collection will serve as the portal opening to Micologia, a larger exploration into human experience on earth to be presented as part of VAMFF in March 2019.
